Incorporated as a 501C3 not-for-profit organization, National Industries for the Blind (NIB) enhances the opportunities for economic and personal independence of persons who are blind, primarily through creating, sustaining and improving employment. NIB operates under the Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Act, a mandatory federal purchasing program, enabling people who are blind to work and provide products and services to federal and commercial customers.

By harnessing the demand and purchasing power of the federal government, NIB and its associated agencies supply federal markets with a selection of more than 3,000 quality products and services under the trade name SKILCRAFT®— manufactured and provided by people who are blind at more than 80 associated agencies, across the nation.

NIB is currently searching for a National Account Manager located in the Washington DC area. The Manager will plan, manage and execute sales related activities in the designated federal agency(s) to meet the goals and objectives of NIB. This includes specific account management and business development activities for the assigned agency(s), with a purpose of meeting or exceeding NIB’s annual product and services growth goal targets. They will work with the Director, Business Development for guidance to accomplish sales goals and objectives for assigned Federal Government user groups. An Undergraduate degree in Communication, Marketing, or Business is required.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of federal government procurement policies and procedures and their relationship to the AbilityOne program. The should be self-motivated and responsible individual with good presentation skills and good planning and organizing skills and have 3-5 years selling experience is preferred, most recently within the Federal Government market. A minimum of 7 or more years of federal employment in a procurement related field is considered equivalent experience. The position will require up to 60 percent of travel within the Washington DC area.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop and execute a product and services Account plan for designated federal agency(s), including overall management of the agency account as well as a business development plan for new products and services, all in alignment with the NIB corporate goals and objectives.
2. Establish high level contact relationships at agency headquarters level and develop multiple-level contacts in assigned end user groups to obtain a comprehensive understanding of how the agency operates. Share this information with all appropriate NIB departments on a need-to-know basis.
3. Become thoroughly knowledgeable in all facets of the customer organizational and operational structure and thoroughly familiar with the personnel within the structure who can influence the buying decision.
4. Identify and qualify new Services and Niche product opportunities in accordance with annual performance goals and objectives appropriate for a National Account Manager.
5. Work closely with appropriate NIB departments, associated agencies and others to develop the qualified service programs and products that satisfy assigned end user groups and are, when appropriate, placed on the Procurement List.
6. Network with key buying influences to stay abreast of all events, training seminars, and trade shows related to the assigned customer base. Maximize opportunities available from participating in appropriate events.
7. Coordinate activities of distributors, associated agency and other NIB sales and marketing staff to identify and pursue opportunities outside the headquarters area.
8. Provide up to date account plans and bi-weekly Significant Activities Reports to the Director, National Accounts, including current objectives, strategies, action plans, and recent activity and target dates as specified by the Director of Business Development.
9. Control expenses and manages resources effectively to meet NIB budget requirements.
10. Use contact management program (Salesforce.com) to maintain all contact and account profiles, work history and project opportunities.
