Migel Medal

The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) presented its 2001 Migel Medal Awards on Thursday, October 25, at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

The Migel Medal was established in 1937 by the late M.C. Migel, AFB's first board chairperson, to honor professionals and volunteers whose dedication and achievements have significantly improved the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired. Dr. Ruth Kaarlela received the Migel Award in the professional category, and Dr. Otis Stephens received the Migel Award in the volunteer category.
