Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Institute (JLTLI)

Important Update Regarding the Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Institute

The American Foundation for the Blind has decided not to host a Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Institute (JLTLI) in 2010 due to the current economic climate and its impact on travel budgets everywhere. The next JLTLI is scheduled for spring 2011, and will once again bring together leaders both seasoned and new in this field to share their knowledge and expertise to improve the quality of life for people with visual impairments. Stay tuned for more information on the 2011 Institute as it is available in the coming year.

About JLTLI

The purpose of the Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Institute (JLTLI) is to improve the quality of programming and services to blind and visually impaired children, adults, and their families. The Institute is designed to provide a forum in which leadership personnel and emerging leaders from the blindness field can come together to increase and share their knowledge and expertise. In addition, the JLTLI affords opportunities to network, share common concerns and innovative strategies, as well as learn about what projects AFB personnel and others in the field have undertaken to improve quality of life for people with visual impairments.

The Institute will strive to be the embodiment of the spirit and dedication of Josephine L. Taylor, a woman of dignity and commitment to improving opportunities and quality of life for blind and visually impaired persons—a true leader in the field of services for blind people everywhere. It is through the Josephine L. Taylor Leadership Institute that the American Foundation for the Blind not only recognizes Dr. Taylor's lifetime service but also hopes to perpetuate her philosophies.
