Web-Braille from National Library ServiceThe National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) offers many of its books and magazines in a special electronic format called Web-Braille. The books are available to US citizens who meet the usual NLS criteria for receiving Talking Books or braille books from cooperating libraries. The books and magazines are easy to download using a computer connected to the Internet and can be read using conventional braille equipment such as refreshable braille displays, braille "printers," and braille notetakers. More information about Web-Braille, including instructions for getting a user name and password to access the books, can be found on the National Library Service fact sheet describing Web-Braille in detail. All books available from the National Library Service and many other sources can be searched by going to http://www.loc.gov/nls/web-blnd/search.html Web-Braille users who have a user name and password can go to the NLS Web-Braille page to read lists of books and to download Web-Braille books and magazines.
