Spring 2005Dear Friends, If you are among the more than 10 million people in the United States who are visually impaired, then you already know how important it is to find ways to accomplish routine daily tasks. Vision loss need not rob a person of independence and quality of life. There are many rehabilitative techniques, technologies, and support services available to help blind and visually impaired individuals adapt to their disabilities and maintain fulfilling, productive lives. The greatest challenge is making sure that the people who need it most connect with the help that is available. Through our National Center on Age-Related Vision Loss, AFB is committed to ensuring that individuals who are losing their sight, and their families and friends, have the information they need to make the necessary adjustments to maintain their way of life. We are particularly excited about the accessible FamilyConnect web site which will provide comprehensive information to anyone who is interested. The National Center on Age-Related Vision Loss is off to a fine start with your support and commitment. We hope that you will continue to support our efforts to preserve independence for visually impaired individuals of all ages. Sincerely,
Spring 2005 |
