Voting MachinesFew rights are more fundamental to Americans than casting a vote independently and in private. Until recently, however, this was impossible for people with vision loss. Electronic voting machines, if designed properly, allow all Americans—sighted or blind, disabled or not—to exercise their constitutional right to vote independently. AFB TECH has been at the forefront of research, evaluating a variety of electronic voting machines on the market for accessibility, while working with manufacturers to improve their designs. AFB TECH also continues to advise election officials across North America. Related Articles The Ballot Ballet: The Usability of Accessible Voting Machines, AccessWorld®, Vol. 5, No. 4, November 2004.
