Rate: $11.00 per line.

Line Length: 16 picas (2 5/8 inches; approximately seven words per line or 35 typewritten characters).

Specifications: No phone orders accepted. Send in copy of exactly how you wish the advertisement to appear. Anonymous box number ads are not accepted.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. All advertising is subject to editorial approval. The publisher reserves the right to reject any advertisement that is not appropriate or does not meet the standards established by the American Foundation for the Blind and AFB Press.

2. Advertising reservations, along with artwork, copy must be received by the indicated closing date. When copy is not received by the deadline date, copy from a previous issue will be inserted. Reservations or cancellations must be received in writing prior to the closing date. Any space reservation or changes in the contract made by phone must be confirmed in writing.

3. Ads must conform to sizes indicated: Mechanical requirements for display advertisements: High-density floppy disks, Iomega Zip, CD-R, and E-mail attachment or FTP by arrangement. PDF files are also acceptable. As JVIB is produced digitally, digital files are preferred. All ads must be black and white. Accepted file formats for digital advertisements: PDF, EPS, PhotoShop or Illustrator. Digital ads (application or PostScript) constructed in Quark are also acceptable if accompanied by a full-size proof, plus fonts, images, a file list, and font list. Use Adobe Type 1 fonts, or convert fonts to outlines; do not use True Type. Supply all fonts that are not embedded in PostScript or PDF files, or converted to outlines. Supply all graphics that are not embedded in PostScript of PDF files. Halftone scans included with ad files should be 300 dpi TIFF files with LZW compression. Line-art scans included with ad files should be 1200 dpi TIFF files with LZW compression. Journal trim size is 6 7/8 x 10 inches. There is no surcharge for bleed advertising. 4. The position of ads is at the discretion of the publisher. If there are any services performed by the publisher to complete mechanical preparation of ad, the advertiser will be billed a minimum charge of $50.00.

5. Advertising space is limited to a percentage of total pages per issue; space availability may vary.

6. Materials provided by the advertiser will not be returned unless requested in writing prior to publication date.

7. Billing will be made upon publication of advertisement. One copy of the published advertisement will be sent to the advertiser or advertising agent with the invoice. Full payment is due 30 days from invoice date. No cash discount. Failure to pay in a timely manner will result in cancellation of contract.

Commission to recognized advertising agencies: 15 percent.

Online ad specifications:

Advertisers placing print advertisements in JVIB also receive an online advertisement at no additional charge. Online ad artwork should be submitted with print artwork.

Ads must conform to the sizes indicated:

180 pixels x 150 pixels, 180 pixels x 75 pixels; maximum file size is 15k. All ads must include plain text for alt-tags. In order to link advertisements to an advertiser's web site, an exact URL must be provided. The publisher will provide HTML coding as necessary. No ads containing "rich media," animation, or pop-ups will be accepted.
