NIMAS Webinars
The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) is pleased to be able to provide a new online training feature to support your plans to implement the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS) in your state or school district. As a partner and subcontractor with the Center for Applied Special Technology's (CAST) NIMAS Centers, AFB is developing a series of web conferencing seminars or "webinars" to support your ongoing goals to implement NIMAS.
The information in these webinars will be relevant for staff from state education agencies, local education agencies, and braille production facilities.
The technology portal was through Talking Communities. This web conferencing company offers unique training opportunities designed to bring learners together in an online community.
October 2008 Webinar
The second session was Implement NIMAS in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Build New State Strategies. The training was held on October 21, 2008 at 2:00 CST.
At the second webinar, we were joined by Vicki Hershman, PATINS State Project Director (Indiana), and Joy Zabala, Project Manager, AIM Consortium at CAST, who shared perspectives about implementing NIMAS solutions in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for students who are visually impaired and/or print disabled.

The first session was Leverage Your Resources and Expertise to Implement NIMAS Mandates in Your School District. The training was on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 2:00 CST.
At the first webinar, we were joined by Vicki Hershman (Indiana) and Suzanne Dalton (Florida) who shared their states' unique perspectives about implementing NIMAS solutions for students who are blind, visually impaired and/or print disabled.
