Why Hire Blind or Visually Impaired Workers?You would hire a blind or visually impaired worker for the same reason you would hire a sighted worker: if he or she is the best qualified candidate for the job. Maybe a better question is, why not hire people who are blind or visually impaired? Accommodation is typically inexpensive and easy to implement. Also, based on a number of studies, visually impaired workers have shown attributes that are on the high positive side of safe performance, productivity, reliability, and attendance. Hiring and retaining blind and visually impaired workers is straightforward when employers remember a few key points:
