Visual Impairment and Your Workforce

Do you know whether all the people in your workforce who are blind or visually impaired are being adequately accommodated? You may answer a resounding "yes" for those who were visually impaired when they were hired, but what about your aging workforce?

Vision loss becomes more of an issue with age. Too often, people who experience vision loss are reluctant to request even simple accommodations for fear of losing their jobs. Frequently the accommodations involve little more than minor adjustments or the acquisition of inexpensive aids. When suitable accommodations are made, quite often the employee's performance is restored or improved—and productivity remains high.
