Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

In Memory of Calvin Wooten

Photo of Carl Augusto

On January 5, we said goodbye to Calvin Wooten, a former AFB board member and Migel Medal recipient.

Calvin was one of my all-time favorite people. He was born in Alabama and lost his sight in early childhood. He was a self-made man and a brilliant entrepreneur. He started Wooten Piano Company, a business that he owned and operated for 50 years, and later founded Wooten Enterprises, a real estate investment company.

Calvin was more than a successful businessman and blindness advocate, he was a dear friend. He will be missed.

Really sorry about that, I can feel that how dear friendship you two have, and how important an good friend to us.

I have bought a piano from the Wooten Piano Corp before, it is very great, and I have already enjoyed it for many years.

Time flies and we are not as well as before, like me, I have pain in right side and sometimes pain in left side, some old friends have already left me, one of my best female is suffering strep throat symptoms, taking care of ourselves is very important.

Very upset about the news of Calvin.

Best Wishes
