Assistant Store Manager

Under the direction and supervision of the Base Supply Center (BSC) Manager, administer the day to day operations of the BSC at Fort Polk, LA. The person in this position is responsible for assisting the Self-Service Supply Center (SSSC) manager with the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the ongoing, overall activities relating to the store.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Learn all aspects of the BSC operations.
2. Must be able to take charge in the absence of the SSSC Manager.
3. Ensures store inventory is maintained at the appropriate level.
4. Assist SSSC manager with maintaining operating records, conduct sales analysis, participate in purchasing, and performing computer back-ups and data transmission.
5. Coordinate sales promotion activities, set up merchandise displays.
6. Assist in formulation of pricing policies.
7. Ensure compliance of employees with established security, policies, and record keeping procedures.
8. Handle customer relations, including complaints and inquiries.
9. Perform work of subordinates as necessary.
10. Be able to report for work within two hours of notification for essential military operations to include night or weekend duty.
11. Responsible for total compliance with contractual agreement between LAB and the Department of the Army at Ft. Polk.
12. Any other duties as assigned by the SSSC Manger.
Qualifications:
1. College degree desired or 3 years of experience in related field.
2. Must have a valid Driver’s License and Insurance.
3. Knowledge of laws/regulations governing military installations.
4. Prior U.S. Army/military training preferred.
5. Must live in the general area of Ft. Polk/Leesville, LA or be willing to relocate.
6. General operating knowledge of office machinery and computer systems.
7. Knowledge of Point of Sale software desired.
8. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
