Defense Division Manager

Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Vice President of Operations, the Defense Division Manager will oversee the manufacturing of injection mold and defense fabrication in Seattle location. Responsible for meeting all production goals including employee safety, production schedules and productivity, quality, delivery, employee and customer satisfaction. Accountable for routine to complex troubleshooting and decision-making for defense production. Supervise, develop, train, motivate, evaluate staff and manages functions that directly support production personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Supervision of production supervisors and coordinating of all activities as related to production responsibilities such as planning, organization, development, training, evaluating and coordination of all activities as related to assigned production responsibilities.

• Responsible for assisting in the development and execution of policies and procedures within the established time frame, which will ensure adherence to shift/organizational practices and policies. Continuing to help with process improvements in support of lean manufacturing.

• Responsible for the requisitioning of supplies within purchasing authority.

• Ensures safe and efficient operation by overseeing and assuring that routine maintenance and housekeeping are performed to keep production equipment and tools operating safely and efficiently. This may include regular equipment inspections.

• Maintains hands-on awareness of manufacturing processes, capabilities and constraints to provide valid and thorough information.
• Keeps up effort to remain aware of new technologies, materials, etc. that help to make the Lighthouse more competitive and efficient.

• Provides direction and decision-making for a wide variety of unplanned issues that can develop and require immediate attention.
• Responsible for coordinating manufacturing activities and training with other programs including the DeafBlind Program, Supported Employee Program and Human Resources.

• Maintains overall vision that supports Lighthouse mission by communicating with employees on a regular basis, (i.e., shop meetings, small group activities and individually).

• Ability to work well with all levels and all departments within the Lighthouse. Ability to work with diverse employees from all backgrounds, many that may require special communication methods, i.e., Braille, large print, interpreter, voice only.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
(equivalent education/and or experience may substitute)

• College graduate, trade school or experience in manufacturing technologies, machining, and tooling design may be used as substitute.

• Minimum seven years management experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Excellent analytical skills.

• Complex and non-routine problem-solving experience is necessary.

• Good advanced math concepts.

• Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suites are required.
