Machine Operator (Programmable)

Performs various stages in sewing process by conjoining component materials/parts to make product; uses non-complex single-needle and/or double-needle automated machines.

1.Checks (thread bobbin and needle) machine to ensure it is working properly
2. Feeds cut material pieces or part into non-complex, automated machines
3.Aligns the material or part in the proper position
4.Runs item through the machine by use of pedal or buttons
5.Repairs or discards incorrectly assembled items
6.Using a counter, counts number of items processed
7.Prepares processed item to forward to next process
8.Cross trains on other machines
9.Works in other departments, as needed
10. Keeps work area clean
11. Performs other job duties as assigned

1.Preference given to legally-blind candidates
2.Basic knowledge of sewing machine operations preferred
3.Must be able to learn to operate automated machines
4.Basic addition and subtraction; must be able to count
5.Ability to work independently as well as with others
6.Ability to sit for long periods of time (8 to 10 hours)
7.Ability to follow detailed oral instructions
