Arizona Industries for the Blind (AIB) participates in the AbilityOne program authorized by the JWOD (Javits-Wagner-O'Day) Act. The mission of the AbilityOne program and AIB is to create employment and training opportunities for people who are blind - a segment of the population with a staggering unemployment rate of almost 70%.

AIB currently employs 120 individuals, 65 of which are blind or vision impaired, providing products and services to federal, state and commercial customers. AIB is ISO9001:2015 certified and has won numerous awards for excellent performance and customer service.

AIB operates three business units:
Base Supply Centers - (located on military bases throughout Arizona) selling office supplies, janitorial supplies and military uniform items to the Air Force and Marines. Winner of the 2017 Base Supply Center Excellence Award.

Distribution Center - store, pick, pack and ship lighting supplies, military insignia, springs and other parts for the Defense Logistics Agency. Winner of the 2010 and 2013 AbilityOne Vendor of the Year Award.

Document Imaging - converting paper documents into digital images. Identified as a Best Practice by the Governor's Office of Efficiency Review.

The President and CEO is responsible for the strategic direction, and overall management and performance of Arizona Industries for the Blind (AIB). This includes working with the Board of Directors and the Management Team to establish long-term and short-term goals, strategies, plans, financially responsible budgets, policies and procedures for all AIB activities and functions. Within this framework, success will ultimately be measured by increasing employment opportunities for people who are blind.

Provide leadership and management to ensure that the organization meets its mission, vision, and values. Leads AIB in accordance with the highest performance standards found in the business community while never losing sight of the fact that AIB's primary responsibility is to serve the best interests of people who are blind. Must continually energize the organization with inspiring leadership, and leading by example. Serve as the principal spokesperson and advocate for AIB in dealing with the business community, partner organizations, the public, the press, and the blindness community.

-Oversee all operations at AIB.
-Establish budgets, goals, plans and set the overall direction for the organization in accordance with the strategic plan.
-Direct business development efforts targeted at increasing employment opportunities for people who are blind.
-Develop effective policies and procedures consistent with best business practices.
-Ensure that the organization is compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements.
-Promote a culture that reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values.
-Provide leadership and supervision to members of AIB's Management Team.
-Develop future leadership.
-Work with staff to optimize individual and team performance.
-Readily identify problems and resolve them.
-Establish and foster close and effective relationships with National Industries for the Blind (NIB), other NIB-affiliated agencies, private businesses, other civic and professional organizations, and governmental entities.
-Act as chief liaison to the Board of Directors, delivering timely, accurate and comprehensive information.
-Actively participate in fundraising efforts.

-Conducts him/her self with absolute integrity.
-Responsive and collaborative leader and a developer of individuals and teams across the organization.
-Committed to continuous self-improvement and organizational improvement and refinement.
-Holds self and the organization accountable using key performance measures.

-Bachelor's degree is required, an MBA is desirable.
-Must have successfully managed a complex organization of similar or larger size and/or have at least 10 years of senior management experience.
-Must have proven ability to function effectively in an environment of rapid change. Ideally, will have experience in both government and business.
-Will be accustomed to working with a Board of Directors.
-Ideally will have knowledge of blindness and the issues facing those who are blind in our society.
