Primary Function:
In collaboration with other IESBVI staff, Area Education Agencies (AEAs), Local Education Agencies (LEAs), and Iowa Department for the Blind (IDB) staff, provides consultation to education teams regarding transition planning and related services for students ages birth-21. Serves as a primary point-of-contact to families for assistance with accessing programs, services and resources to address the identified needs of students and their families. This includes providing technical assistance and coaching to IESBVI, LEA, and AEA teachers as children ages birth – 5 transition from Early ACCESS services to Early Childhood services to preschool/elementary programs.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field plus at least four years of experience working with families of children with special needs in an education setting required. Candidates must have or be eligible to obtain valid Iowa Teaching license or Iowa Orientation and Mobility license by time of appointment. Candidates must also be able to travel regularly within the State of Iowa. Information on Iowa licensing requirements may be found at the Board of Educational Examiners webpage:

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree preferred. Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired also preferred.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary will be determined by the successful applicant’s educational and teaching experience. (BA degree - $49,000-$71,000; MA degree – $57,000-$82,000). Comprehensive benefit package available, including relocation assistance.

Position Details:
Full-time, School-year appointment (193 contract days). Position starts as soon as possible and no later than August 2018. Service region covers state of Iowa. Criminal and other relevant background checks required.
