Career Opportunity:

AFB is presently seeking a Usability Specialist to manage and execute all aspects of AFB Consulting Solutions’ usability-testing efforts. This position is a part-time onsite role in Dallas, Texas, and it does have the potential to develop into a full-time role over time.


  • Engage with AFB clients to understand their needs and develop appropriate test plans to support the client’s needs and goals.
  • Develop scope and level-of-effort estimates for usability testing.
  • Recruit participants using AFB’s databases and other local resources, ensuring a variety of disabilities are represented in addition to other client-specific asks.
  • Conduct usability testing on a variety of devices, technologies, and digital interfaces, including web sites, applications, appliances, and more as determined by the individual project scope.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies around usability testing, including IRBs, consent forms, etc.
  • Develop results reports documenting scope, methods, results, and recommendations.
  • Carry out Lessons-Learned exercises at the end of each engagement to help strengthen performance in subsequent projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Schedule:

    • The work schedule is flexible and TBD in conjunction with the selected candidate.
    • Qualifications:

      Bachelor degree or higher (or in progress) in usability, psychology, or human factors. Must possess excellent writing abilities, analytical research abilities, and a comfort level with technology (e.g. computers, mobile devices, etc.). Experience with assistive technology, such as screen-reader programs, is preferred, but not required (AFB can train in that area).
