Brief Description

AMB is a non-profit Saturday school solely dedicated to educating talented blind music students from 5-to-18 years of age. Curriculum includes: piano, guitar/bass, sax/clarinet/flute, drums/percussion, voice/chorus, drama/speech, composing/ear training/theory, mobility/dance, computer/music recording, creativity/imagination, social skills, Braille music, and academic tutoring.

Hours of operation: Meet every Saturday 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Services for Children

  • Education Services
    • * Braille music reading, ear training, and solfege.
      * Training in acoustic instruments: piano, guitar, winds, strings, percussion and voice.
      * Arranging and recording taught both traditionally and with the aid of accessible computer recording applications.
      * Computer Literacy including training in using screen reading software. * Recording and audio engineering.
      * Movement, Mobility and Dance.
      * Public Speaking and Drama.
      * Creativity and Imagination Development.
  • Support for Parents
    • Parent Advocacy Workshops. Educating parents and families on how they can advocate for their children vis a vis the public school system, state rehab organizations, and regional centers.

Services for Professionals

  • Professional Training
    • Teacher training workshops. These workshops are designed to educate professional teachers in the special needs of blind students. The information and skills provided will enable teachers to successfully integrate blind music students into existing music classes.
