APLS/BPH is part of the National Library Service network system and a division within the Alabama Public Library Service, the state library. It provides recreational and basic reference needs in special format materials.

    • Provides information on related organizations and agencies.
  • Library Services
    • Provides talking books, talking book machines, large-print books, audiocassettes, and braille books for blind and physically handicapped persons.
  • Services for Seniors
    • Provides recreational and some basic reference materials in special format for those who qualify.

Services for Children

  • Information and Referral
    • Provides referrals to local, state and national organizations and agencies.
  • Library Services
    • Offers children's, juvenile and young adult books in braille, print/braille and recorded cassette. Offers Summer Reading Program opportunity.
  • Recreation Services
    • Offers opportunities for leisure reading.
