Brief Description

The Low Vision Center of the Beaumont Eye Institute provides evaluation and testing, visual aids, and on-site occupational therapy as part of a program of rehabilitative services.

Hours of operation: Mon.-Fri. 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Staff description: Two optometrists certified in low vision.

Services for Adults

  • Assistive Products
    • Sells magnifiers, spectacle-mounted and hand-held telescopes. Products available on site.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Offers home activities of daily living training for seniors through hospital outpatient occupational therapy department.
  • Low Vision Services
    • Provides low vision evaluation and follow-up by two optometrists certified in low vision by state. Performs low vision evaluations of seniors.
  • Support Groups
    • Oversees a support group for individuals with low vision.

    • Conducts assessments.
  • Health
    • Provides complete eye care, from routine eye exams to serious vision problems. At the Beaumont Eye Institute, board certified doctors are specialists in pediatric vision disorders and surgeries, including vision complications from premature birth abnormalities of visual development, hereditary retinal conditions and ocular tumors.
  • Low Vision Services
    • The doctors at the Beaumont Eye Institute Low Vision Clinic specialize in evaluation and testing, visual aids, and onsite occupational therapy as part of the rehabilitative program to assist patients with permanent visual impairments. The program doesn't require patients to be legally blind and provides a thorough eye exam with near point assessment for reading and close work.
