Brief Description

Founded in 1949, Dallas Services seeks to enable individuals with disabilities or other needs to achieve their potential by fostering inclusiveness and independence throughout their lives.

Specializes in low vision and functional vision evaluations for children and seniors and care with appropriate referral for additional services, both medical and vocational, when needed.

Hours of operation: Mon.-Fri. 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.

Services for Adults

  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Provides instruction in all developmental areas, consultant services to other specialized programs, and inclusive settings. Provides training in the use of low vision devices.
  • Low Vision Services
    • Provides low vision evaluation and follow-up. Offers low vision evaluations and prescription of devices and training for seniors.

Services for Children

  • Assessment
    • Offers low vision exams and screens for developmental delays.
  • Early Intervention/Infant Services
    • Offers birth-to-age-5 program for children with disabilities and developmental delays.
  • Education Services
    • Inclusive preschool program serving the developmental, educational and social needs of all children.
  • Low Vision Services
    • Complete low vision clinic provides low vision evaluations, devices and training. Dallas Services is the only nonprofit low vision clinic in Texas, other than the University of Houston's School of Optometry.
  • Preschool Programs
    • Inclusive preschool program. Dallas Services has been serving children with vision impairments since 1949.

      Offers home- and center-based programs for developmentally delayed, including visually handicapped, children, birth to 5 years. Inclusive day care facility.
  • Support for Parents
    • Special Needs Advocacy and Awareness Program provides ongoing education and advocacy training so that parents have a better understanding of the specific needs as well as the navigation of the special education system.

      Offers parent and other counseling, financial assistance, case management, family-focused early childhood intervention, individual and group counseling, and referrals.
