Brief Description

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services administers a statewide system of services for senior citizens, their families and caregivers. We work with other aging agencies and organizations to effectively and efficiently respond to the needs of elderly Georgians. DAS meets the challenge of Georgia's growing older population through continued service improvement and innovation.

Hours of operation: Mon.-Fri. 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Geographic area served: Georgia.
Publications: Access guide; numerous public education materials on Medicaid, Medicare, public benefits, advance directives, end-of-life decision making, and others.

Services for Adults

  • Assessment
    • Provided through specific programs such as the MCBS programs.
  • Community Outreach Programs
    • Provided to the elderly through Area Agencies on Aging.
  • Computer Training/Assistive Technology
    • Provides computer training for seniors.
  • Counseling
    • Provided through specific programs.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Provided through Georgia Division of Rehabilitation Services.
  • Employment/Job Training
    • Offers Senior Community Service Employment Program.
  • Financial Assistance
    • Administers Older Americans Act funding through area agencies on aging, home and community-based services program and state Alzheimer's program.
  • Information and Referral
    • Provides information on aging issues through community education programs. Provides referrals to Area Agencies on Aging and information on other local aging services.
  • Recreation Services
    • Provides recreational opportunities for the elderly people through Area Agencies on Aging.
