Services for Adults

  • Assistive Products
    • Sells magnifiers and optical devices. Products for sale on site.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Offers life skills classes.
  • Employment/Job Training
    • Provides referrals to other agencies.
  • Information and Referral
    • Provides public education programs and referral to community resources.
  • Low Vision Services
    • Provides devices, appliances at cost, and eyeglasses at low cost.
  • Recreation Services
    • Bus trips, parties.

Services for Children

  • Assessment
    • Intake interview conducted to assess eligibility for available services.
  • Community Outreach Programs
    • Scholarships are offered annually to blind and visually impaired young adults entering college.

      Offers elementary school education program for blindness and eye safety. Offers free public education programs, free preschool vision screening.
  • Counseling
    • Counseling provided by social worker.
  • Daily Living Skills/Independent Living Skills Training
    • Teaches daily living skills in the six-week Summer Instruction Program in July.
  • Health
    • We offer a program for low-cost eyeglasses.
  • Information and Referral
    • We offer information on all community services and make referral to blindness and visual services as well as to any other agency whose services would benefit individual.
  • Low Vision Services
    • Makes available low vision devices for tying out.
  • Preschool Programs
    • Offer vision screening program.
  • Recreation Services
    • Has a summer picnic and occassional after-school activities such as bowling, arts and crafts, etc.
  • Summer/Day Camps and After-school Programs
    • Runs the Summer Instruction Program, a six-week program starting in July in which orientation and mobility, rehabiltation, money management, conflict resolution, daily living skills, socialization, cooking, and other skills are taught.
  • Support for Parents
    • Provides home visits, workshops, and support groups.
  • Support Groups
    • Support group for teenagers and parents meets on the second Thursday of every month.
