Subregional Library. A service unit of San Francisco Public Library.

Hours of operation: Mon./Thurs. 1:00 PM-6:00 PM, Tues./Wed. 10:00 AM-6:00 PM, Fri. 12:00 PM-6:00 PM.

Staff description: Legally blind braillist on staff.

Services Offered

Services for Adults

  • Information and Referral
    • Offers numerous library reference resources in blind/low vision areas.
  • Library Services
    • Provides talking books and the equipment to play them on for free through the USPS for people who are blind or otherwise physically disabled so that they are unable to read regular print. Part of the Library of Congress NLS/BPH service. Provides access to the Internet, some office software, braille display and embosser, CCTV magnifiers, and OCR readers through assistive technology equipment for use at the library.

  • Braille and Reading Instruction
    • Provided via Project Read Literacy Program at San Francisco Public Library.
  • Library Services
    • Provides talking books, large-print books, and audiocassettes for blind and physically handicapped persons.
