Geographic area served: Nassau and Sugffolk Counties
Publications: Fast Forward (quarterly newsletter) and many fact sheets.

Services Offered

Services for Adults

  • Information and Referral
    • Provides information and referral relating to vision services on Long Island.
  • Library Services
    • Provides talking books for blind and physically disabled persons.

Services for Children

  • Community Outreach Programs
    • Works with public libraries to promote accessible programs and services and provides demonstrations of assistive technology for people who are blind or visually impaired and works with local and state rehabilitation agencies to provide training and disability awareness.
  • Library Services
    • Lends professionally recorded books and magazines (and the special equipment needed to play them) to eligible residents on Long Island. Materials are sent to borrowers and returned by postage-free mail. LITBL currently serves about 4,000 readers, and lends over 100,000 talking books a year.
