Brief Description

The mission of the Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped is to provide comprehensive library services to the eligible blind and physically handicapped residents of the State of Maryland.

Hours of operation: Mon.-Fri. 8:00 AM-5:00 PM, 10:00 AM-2:00 PM every second Sat.
Geographic area served: Maryland except Montgomery County.

Services Offered

Services for Adults

  • Library Services
    • Provides talking books, talking book machines, large-print books, audiocassettes, and braille books for blind and physically handicapped persons.

Services for Children

  • Library Services
    • Provides comprehensive library services to the eligible blind and physically handicapped residents of the State of Maryland. Offers a wide variety of descriptive videos. Descriptive Videos are movies and television programs for people with low or no vision and are enhanced with descriptions of the action taking place in addition to the already present dialogue.
