Brief Description

A subregional library of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Provides free library services to qualified applicants.

Hours of operation: Mon.-Fri. 10:00 AM-5:00 PM.
Clients served on average per year: 390
Number of staff: 2 part-time
Staff description: 2 part-time reader advisors
Geographic area served: Augusta, Bath, Highland, and Rockbridge Counties, and the Cities of Buena Vista, Lexington, Staunton, and Waynesboro.

Services Offered

Services for Adults

  • Braille/Electronic/Audio/Large Print Production
    • A subregional library of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. Provides free library services to qualified applicants.
  • Library Services
    • Provides audio and Braille books and magazines to individuals with print disabilities. We provide free library service for anyone unable to read regular print because of a visual or physical disability. We have books and magazines on tape and playback equipment; we also have materials in Braille. Books and magazines are mailed free to and from library patrons, wherever they reside.
  • Services for Seniors
    • The Talking Book Center is a supporting agency for three local support groups for people with vision impairments.

Services for Children

  • Library Services
    • We provide free library service for anyone unable to read regular print because of a visual or physical disability. We have books and magazines on tape and playback equipment; we also have materials in Braille. Books and magazines are mailed free to and from library patrons, wherever they reside.
