Clothing of Blind People

I am conducting a survey and would like to know and understand more opinions from blind people about the clothing.

1. Do blind people emphasize on their look and clothing?/ Are they interested in Fashion?

2. What do they wear in daily? Have they select clothes based on their favorite?

3. What methods do blind people use to identify different types of clothes?

4. Do blind people choose by themselves or help by others when they select clothes in everyday and go to buy clothes?

5. Where or what methods do blind people use to buy clothes? What difficulties or problems did they meet? What is their opinion or suggestion to improve?

6. What ways or methods do blind people use to get information whatever about fashion or other news from daily life?

***
Universal Design is the concept of designing all products and the built environment to be aesthetic and usable to the greatest extent possible by everyone, regardless of their age, ability, or status in life (Mace 2005).
This concept emphasizes the social inclusion. The design is not specifically for the minority or disabled users only. The aim is those users can be taken into consideration as well as the general public at the same time. Hence, the designs not only care about them, but also can be easily accepted by the public.
For example, there are sloping paths established near the stairs at the entrances and exits of the buildings. It is not only for disabled users, the general public, elders, trolleys and large objects or luggage holders can also be used.

7. Do blind people support the Universal Design concept is applied on fashion?

8. Based on Universal Design concept, will blind people try or purchase the new fashion product if it is wearable for both general and blind people?

9. Regarding to the design of new product, what functions, materials, hand feel, details, price, etc. do blind people need and think is suitable for their needs?

Your opinion is very important to me. Hope I can get more information here. Thank you!!

Just buy jeans or black slacks. Everything goes with those.

3. What methods do blind people use to identify different types of clothes?

Generally, each piece of clothing is going to feel different. Different fabrics, texturing, weave, numbers of buttons, etc. That's generally how I identify them. I've also heard of labels and tags in braille or that can be read by a QR code scanner that you can attach to a particular piece of clothing.
For example, say you have a green shirt. Either stick or iron on a QR label and then, using a scanner, record a message to yourself saying something like, "Light green shirt. Warm wash. Semiformal." or some such.

Some blind people are more interested in fashion than are others. Some people who are legally blind can see colors. Some people who are now blind used to be able to see and so have opinions about colors which those who have never seen may not have.
2. What do they wear in daily?
When i worked for a corporation I wore slacks and nice tops or suits. In many corporations, things are becoming less formal. So, what a person wears depends upon what he or she is doing. For instance, now that I work for myself as a small business owner, I tend to wear jeans.
Have they select clothes based on their favorite?

I take along a friend I trust or find somebody at a store who I can ask for advise who is not a salesperson as such. Lots of stores have people who are often helpful. What I do now a lot is shop online since I know the brands I like and the size I wear in those brands.

I get news information reading the newspaper on the internet or listening to news broadcasts over stations I think are good like the BBC.
