Scanners: can they read hand written letters?

Is a scanner like the ScannaR able to read hand written letters as well as typed text? If so, does the handwriting have to be print as opposed to cursive?

I think the Kurzweil reader can.

Hey! I hope I'm not too late....my Kurtzweil reader can read neatly print handwritten letters. If they are too messy it can't read them, but if it's neat it just takes a while for it to decipher. It can't read cursive though. Only regular printed print. hope this helps

No one we know, knows of a scanner that can read handwriting, yet. Maybe someday.
