Is it possible to get a computer for Visually Impaired elderly adult at no cost?

Are there agencies or organizations that can provide assistive technology and computers at no cost to elderly legally blind persons?

A possible source

Check with your state commission for the blind (or state vocational rehab if there is not a commission for the blind in your state). You may also want to check with local companies. I recently helped a bank get rid of dozens of functioning Pentium computers (they were donated to a local church).

Free computers for VI senior citizens

When I was in considerably worse shape financially a few years ago, I was able to acquire a computer through a local chapter of the Lions Club. You may want to try doing this. Another idea: Find out what's available through your community's senior center or council on aging. Good luck!

I found this site. There is a $100.00 shipping and handling charge, but I think and hope this is what you are looking for:http://computersfortheblind.net/computers.html

Re: Is it possible to get a computer for Visually Impaired elderly adult at no cost?

I hate that yall keep directing these people to they local vsbi services I had no help what so ever from mine they even closed my case because I didn't have transportation to get to them and I told them that. unless they just ain't worth nothing in my city. They closed my case 2 times matter a fact the first time was because my old councler retired but it wasn't my falt, and the second time was when I didn't have transportation to go take some tests to prove that Im blind, I was in this program before, what other proof did they need? it ain't like I was going to wake up and see the world the next day, or be touched by god to be able to see again.
