Description:Yahoo creates websites and mobile apps for people who want access to entertainment, news, and communication, and Yahoo works to assure these websites and mobile apps are accessible and usable by everyone. This presentation will cover a brief discussion of the techniques and testing strategies Yahoo uses to integrate access into its websites and mobile apps. An iPad will be used to demonstrate the accessibility of Yahoo Screen, a mobile app that enables you to enjoy a wide variety of videos from a myriad of popular sources. This presentation will demonstrate several access features of Screen, including: searching for and playing videos, rewinding and advancing videos, and accessing closed captions.

Description: AfterShokz is known for creating a product for people who are blind through its bone conducting headphones. For travel, it is now integrated with the waypoint navigation product, BlindSquare. One touch to your temple and say, “Load Be My Eyes,” and you can have visual assistance at your disposal. When you want to her it all, AfterShokz opens your ears. This presentation provides an update on the use and benefits of this technology.

2:00 – 2:20 Treating the Toughest Cases: Identifying the End-stage AMD Patient and Candidate Evaluation for the CentraSight® Program

Description: This presentation will provide a general overview about the telescope implant and the CentraSight® treatment program, which helps patients follow the steps necessary for proper diagnosis, surgical evaluation, implantation and postoperative care. Highlight s will include recent program milestones, including the October 2014 FDA approval expanding the telescope implant indication to include patients as young as 65+ and why revised CMS coding will expand patient access as the procedure becomes more readily available in the ambulatory surgical center setting.

Speaker: Henry (Hoby) Wedler, Ph.D. candidate at UC Davis in Computational Organic Chemistry
Description: Over the past year, Braigo Labs, Inc. has been working on braille printing technologies, starting with Legos and expanding to current advanced technology. This presentation will give an account of Braigo Labs, how it began, and a brief history of its 13-year-old founder before exploring the work it has done in the past year. Examples and demonstration will show how Braigo Labs is working to push back the frontiers of braille printing. The presentation will also discuss how Braigo Labs plans to have hard-copy braille at the fingertips of blind people across the globe.
