AFB Trustee Jack Duffy Honored at National Philanthropy Day

NEW YORK(November 8, 2005)—Jack A. Duffy, Vice Chair of the American Foundation for the Blind's (AFB) Board of Trustees, will be honored at the upcoming National Philanthropy Day (NPD)—a special day set aside to recognize the great contributions of those people who are active in the philanthropic community.

"Jack Duffy is charitable in word, thought, and deed and a great source of pride and inspiration to the trustees and staff at AFB," said Carl R. Augusto, AFB's President and CEO. "I can think of no one more deserving of this prestigious recognition."

Jack A. Duffy has served as a member of AFB's board for nine years and has been a model of extraordinary leadership and excellence. Duffy retired from his role as Senior Vice President of Strategy at UPS in May 2003 after 23 years of service. His primary responsibility was to reposition UPS in the global marketplace and make it the leader in Supply Chain Logistics. Since his retirement, Duffy has been a senior advisor to a number of private equity and technology firms focusing on the supply chain sector, and serves as a trustee on a number of non-profit boards.

NPD is sponsored by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The NPD event will be held on November 14, 2005, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm, at the Rainbow Room, New York City. The event will include a conversation with Les Goodstein, President and Chief Operating Officer, Daily News and Jane Hanson, WNBC Anchor and Host of Jane's New York.
