Larry E. Thompson Appointed to the President's Council of the American Foundation for the Blind

New York, NY (March 2,2009)—Larry Thompson, General Counsel of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation and former American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) Trustee, has been appointed to AFB's President's Council—a distinguished group of AFB supporters.

"Larry brings an invaluable wealth of experience and expertise to the President's Council," said Carl R. Augusto, President & CEO of AFB. "I am honored to have him as a close advisor."

Thompson joins twelve other members of the President's Council, including the Honorable Jimmy Carter, Former President of the United States; Michael J. Critelli Chairman & CEO, Pitney Bowes, Inc.; Patty Duke, award-winning actress, Jose Feliciano, recording artist; David T. Kearns, Former Chairman & CEO, Xerox Corporation; J.W. Marriott, Jr., Chairman & CEO, Marriott International, Inc.; Ronnie Milsap, country music artist; the Honorable David Paterson, Governor of New York; the Honorable Charles H. Percy, Former U.S. Senator, Illinois; Patricia S. Schroeder, President & CEO, Association of American Publishers, Inc.; Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Chairman Emeritus, The New York Times Company; and the Honorable Lowell P. Weicker, Jr., Former Governor, Connecticut, and Former U.S. Senator, Connecticut.

As General Counsel of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Mr. Thompson is responsible for all legal and regulatory activities of DTCC and its subsidiaries. He came to DTCC in 1981 to serve as Associate Counsel at its subsidiary, Depository Trust Company (DTC). His legal career progressed as he was elected Vice President, Senior Vice President, General Counsel of DTC, Managing Director, First Deputy General Counsel, and, in 2005, named to his current position. Mr. Thompson maintains a variety of professional memberships, including the New York State Bar Association. He also participated in the 2005 David Rockefeller Fellows Program, where he worked to cultivate the growth of leadership in New York City. Mr. Thompson graduated cum laude from Yale University and then went on to earn his law degree at the University of California at Berkeley.
