Talking Book Productions Receives Prestigious Award for Alex Haley's Roots

New York, NY (June 6, 2008)—The American Foundation for the Blind is honored to announce
that Talking Book Productions (TBP) has won a 2008 Audie® Award for its production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, Roots: The Saga of an American Family, by Alex Haley. Narrated by Avery Brooks, produced and directed by TBP, and published by BBC Audiobooks America, Roots received the award in the non-fiction category. The Audie® Awards, presented by the Audio Publishers Association (APA), are the only awards covering audiobooks, recognizing the best titles across many different genres and celebrating industry trailblazers.

"It's an honor to be recognized among so many outstanding audiobooks," said Lou Gutiérrez, Director, Talking Book Productions. "The Audies® are the highest honor you can receive in this industry, and we couldn't be more excited."
