Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

What Is Work?

These lessons are designed to explore different aspects of working life for individuals transitioning to employment. Use these lessons with your students, clients, or consumers to build an understanding of the basic components of work, such as planning, fulfilling responsibilities, contributing to a group, and working towards a shared goal. The lessons included here provide a great introduction to the realities of work, and also include activities specific to volunteering and participating in the community. Paid experience is perhaps the ideal, but most young people get their start through volunteer experience and community involvement. Get your students and clients started early, and keep the experiences coming!
