About the Hospitality Industry & Blind or Visually Impaired Jobholders

Hotels, resorts, campgrounds, restaurants, tour companies, theme parks, cruise lines, and the tourism industry require a range of staff to take care of guests and keep things running smoothly. A wide range of skills and personalities goes into providing guests with an excellent and memorable experience. If you have a gift for making people feel welcome, comfortable, and taken care of, the hospitality and service industry may be a great fit for you.

Questions: What if you were offered your dream job in the hospitality industry, but it wasn’t where you lived or you had no transportation to get there? Would you be willing to move to where the job is? How good do you think your orientation & mobility skills need to be to be able to travel safely and independently in a new environment? Where would you look to find someone who knows how to teach you these routes in a new place?
