Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

How the AFB Center on Vision Loss Serves Medical Professionals

Do you struggle with what to say when you have to tell a patient that the vision problems they are experiencing are permanent and irreversible?

You're not alone. Optometrists and ophthalmologists regularly tell us this is very hard for them.

The American Foundation for the Blind Center on Vision Loss can help. We can share information with you or your patients in person or by phone that will bring them hope, help and connection. Low vision rehabilitation services are not necessarily well known but are widely available today. Use our Directory of Services to find resources in your community.

A trip to the Center for you, your staff, and/or your patient is the first step. We will connect you with the resources available and answer questions you may have about helping your patients live as independently as possible.

The Center is the "gateway to independence" for your patients with vision loss.

Whether you or your patients can visit Esther's Place in Dallas or not, AFB can still assist you. Our online information can enable you to "help your patients help themselves." Schedule a tour, request literature about the Center, or ask a question by calling (214) 352-7222 or sending an email to dallas@afb.net.
