Transcript

Narrator: AFB Press presents an interview with Laura Bozeman, Co-editor of the new book, O&M for Independent Living: Strategies for Teaching Orientation and Mobility to Older Adults.

Laura: We find, as O&M specialists, that with the baby-boomer population aging that O&M specialists more and more have older adults on their caseloads and just sometimes we need to share strategies that help us all in providing that instruction and really supporting those clients better.

It's truly a text that is aimed at orientation mobility specialists and their work with an aging population. We do know that the incidence of visual impairments is really growing in the older population, 55 and up. Those people are staying really active and certainly wanting to continue their life, and they still need to get around, and so, hopefully, these strategies are meant to help O&M specialists working with that population.

Narrator: O&M for Independent Living: Strategies for Teaching Orientation and Mobility to Older Adults, co-edited by Nora Griffin Shirley and Laura Bozeman is available in print, eBook and online subscription. Order now in the AFB Store, www.afb.org/store or call 1-800-232-3044.
