Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

!!!Cheers to you! Thank you for Supporting the Macy Act!

"Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence." - Helen Keller

The AFB Public Policy Center would like to extend an enormous "Thank you!" to everyone who participated in and supported our June 27th National Anne Sullivan Macy Act Call-In Day! Because of supporters like you, Congress received over 630 messages of support for students with visual impairments. We let them know that quality, appropriate education is essential to student success!

Some highlights from your Macy Act advocacy:

  • 616 callers connected to senators' and representatives' offices as of midnight on June 27th!
  • 22 senators and representatives received tweets encouraging them to sponsor the Macy Act!
  • The hashtag #MacyAct has been tweeted over 40 times!
  • The Anne Sullivan Macy Act advocacy video has been seen over 362 times!
  • The text of the Macy Act was viewed over 60 times on June 26-27!

What's next? – We need to keep this great campaign going. If you have not yet contacted your senators and representatives, it's not too late! Details about the Act and instructions for advocating are posted at, and our congressional advocacy phone numbers will remain active:

  • U.S. House of Representatives: 1-855-882-MACY (6229)
  • U.S. Senate: 1-877-959-MACY (6229)

Additionally, we will keep you informed about the efforts of AFB and other organizations to secure bipartisan, bicameral sponsorship of this legislation. If you have any questions or feedback, please keep in touch! Contact Mark Richert at the email address and/or phone number below.
