Expanding possibilities for people with vision loss

A Letter from the Chair

Larry Kimbler

Dear Friends,

This marks my last year as chair of AFB's Board of Trustees, a role in which I have been honored to serve. It's been a truly remarkable and fulfilling journey to see this organization grow and change over the years, and it has been a pleasure to work with so many individuals who are committed to AFB's mission.

Under Kirk's leadership, that mission is now evolving, but I see it as a natural progression of our longtime goal of ensuring that people who are blind or visually impaired have the resources and opportunities they need to live fully and equally alongside their sighted peers. Our new vision of creating a world of no limits is the natural next step for an organization that has worked tirelessly for the rights of the blind and visually impaired for nearly a century.

Helen Keller, a longtime staff member at AFB, who to this day inspires us, once said, "Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope." I am filled with optimism and hope for AFB and for a future of no limits for people who are blind and visually impaired.

With warm regards,
