Contact with Blind People

Hi!
I would like to have contact with blind people. I almost never see a blind person, and I started wondering why. I am very near-sighted, and therefore at risk for various eye diseases. I would like to email or maybe meet blind people (if they live in my area) and learn from them how they manage everyday life and what they think about the way sighted people treat them.
