Your husband might benefit from getting in touch wih others who are aquainted with helping people who are looosing their vision. He can perhaps talk to a counselor and get started that way. Sometimes it isn't easy for guys to talk about their feelings and struggles. That's tough. He may not want to burden people. He may want to appear strong and in the long run, get depressed.
He may benefit by going to a job training site like the ones you mentioned if that's what he wants. I've heard of the school in Arkansas. I knew a guy who wanted to go into lawn mower repair. Never found out how that went.
It's not easy learning a new way of doing things different, but I can be done. It happens every single day.
Good luck to your husband. I hope you find him the best resources.
