Can anyone provide a list of the states that allow a legally blind person to obtain a drivers' license?

You have to be aware of what each state defines as "legally blind."

If you have 20/200 or worse in BOTH eyes, and it cannot be corrected in any way, no state in the US will allow you to drive. If you can correct your vision to 20/200 or better in one eye, I know of three states will allow you to drive: Connecticut, Virginia, and Kentucky. Those states restrict "legally blind" drivers to daylight hours only and to a certain radius from the person's home, and as in the article below, there are 34 states in this group.

However, most states require a correction of 20/60 or better with a 100 degree horizontal view for a limited-restricted license. A limited number allow license for 20/100 or better, without telescopic lenses, for highly restricted licenses.

Also, you CANNOT simply go to a state that would accept your eyesight, get a license, and go back home. Whatever the standards are in your state, those are the standards for a license that you need to follow. If you get a license in Kentucky, which allows 20/200 vision with correction, and then move to Wyoming, which requires correction to 20/100, you wouldn't be able to drive any longer. So unless you are planning to move to a state that fits within your eyesight limits, check with your local DMV about requirements.

I live in Arizona and I drive but only during the day. I am 20/200 but I have driving glasses that gets me to 20/40. I am blind in my other eye. the cool thing about Arizona is that you renew your license every 35 years so the next time for me to renew my driver's license is when I am 65 years old, I am never moving out of Arizona. However, if or when my vision gets worse I will not risk my life just to drive.

I DONT THINK THE STATE OF GA LETS LEGALLY BLIND DRIVE BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN LEGALLT BLIND FOR 5YRS AND I DONT HAVE A DRIVER LICENSE IAM 20 YRS OLD AND THE ONLY THING I HAVENT DONE IS DRIVE AND THATS SOMETHING THAT I REALLY WANT TO DO MY TEENAGE YRS HAVE BEEN MISERABLE I HAVE BEEN CALL NAMES PICKED ON AND IT IS DRIVING ME CRAZY I HAVE TWO BOYS AND IAM A SINGLE PARENT AND I STRUGGLE EVERYDAY BECAUSE I KNOW IM BLIND AND IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I WONT BE ABLE TO TAKE THEM PLACES OR DO THINGS FOR THEM IAM TOO YOUNG TO FEEL THIS WAY I WAKE UP EVERYDAY WONDERING WHEN WILL IT ALL CHANGE ALL I WANT TO DO IS DRIVE SO I CAN TAKE CARE OF MY FAMILY
