chatting to other blind people

HI,

Do you know of any programs for chatting with blind people? I found one on Google called Talking IRC which works with mirc. It looks complicated to set up. Has anyone used it or do you have better suggestions?

Hello amelia,

I would be willing to chat with you via skype. IF you want a more accessible version of it, download Gw-micro's version of it.
You download the program and set up a free account. Then you add your friends.
After you have created your account, I would be willing to add you. My email address is masterspanishteacher2306@gmail.com.
You can also chat with Yahoo messenger.
Would you prefer to chat by phone, or the computer?

Actually, I was thinking of a chat service that puts you in touch with other blind people. I found three services through Google: zonebbs on www.zonebbs.com, Tirc on www.talkingirc.net and Blind-planet on www.blind-planet.com.
Are these services any good?

Hi Amelia,

I haven't been on the zone for awhile, but when I was there, there seemed to be a lot of drama and gossip. You can check it out though.
I do not know about the other two. I can give you the phone line that will put you in touch with other blind people.
Have you recently lost your sight? If I can support you in any way or answer any questions you have, let me know.

The number is 1231-732-7141. From teh main menu, press 1 for live chat. Then press three to get to my room, the cantina.
I would be happy to answer any of your questions about blindness. I am in the room every day from 6:00-10:00 PM eastern time. I also hold a women's support group on Mondays at 9 PM Eastern time.
I am in the room almost daily.

hi i am a 48 year old blind male, and my issue seems to be similar to yours amelia trying to find other blind people to chat with about evryday issues about blindness.i also am having problems trying to find a support group in my age category in my area.the groups are either for children or seniors 55 or older.any advice from anyone? thank you.

I'm 17 years old and have the same issue, especially I would like to meet blind people of my age group. Facebook has become, in my opinion, extremely inaccessible. I no longer use mine. I skype but what use is that if I don't meet anyone to skype? I am on three sites and know about two more. I like out of site on www.out-of-site.net, the VIP on www.vipconduit.com, and new visions network, appologies if I get this site name wrong, www.newvisionsnetwork.net. I have that last one on my favorites and don't know if I have the URL right.
