What's the normal body temperature for a healthy body?

Hi, all, I'm confused for my body temperature. I searched some introduction for normal body temperature, like: http://www.healthcare-online.org/Normal-Body-Tempe.... I think my body templerature is a little hight. It's 98.6 under the arm. But the doctor said It's OK for getting a light "fever" for a short period, it will increase our body's immune system. Should I worry about it?

Posted by EmergencyRoomNeuron on 5/20/2011 at 11:01 AMAbsolutely not. Body temps very from person to person. Usually 98.1 to 98.6 is the normal temp, but mine is usually 96.8 for example. So where it may be low for someone else, it's my normal. So 98.6 would be a fever for me. Not knowing your baseline I can't say whether you have a fever. The doctor is correct. Even if you have a fever it does not necesarilly mean something fatal or extremely dangerous is happening. People get fevers with the flu, and even colds sometimes. If you have underlying medical conditions that make you concerned about a possible infection, then bloodwork can be done to assure that you are alright. Trust your doctor though, he/she knows what they're dqng.

Posted by Joe S on 5/21/2011 at 10:28 AMRight on about body temperatures varying. Some people have higher body temperatures or even lower. I keep a lower body temperature. Everyone is different, it just shouldn't be an extreme difference.

Posted by Gir101 on 6/30/2011 at 11:53 PMEven if it's a pretty high fever for you, you should only really start to worry when it gets above about 105 degree's.
