Living on Campus

My name is Kristen, and KI just started living on the campus of Grand Valley State University. I have found it difficult to make friends even with those who live in the dormitory. What do you suggest for getting through to those who live in the same dormitory?

Be social... I guess it's not that easy, in fact I know it's not, but that's the best advice I can give. Sighted people are snobs sometimes, haha, just kidding of course, but sometimes they just don't understand. I would just make it clear to them that I'm just as normal as they are. I'm not in college yet, but I ill be in like a year and a half. Are you completely blind, has disability services been helpful? Do you have a roommate or are you in a single room? I have a guide dog and colleges keep telling me, "Oh, you can be in a single room." but I'm not sure I want to do that because I don't want it to take away from the college experience. :) Hope my answer sort of helped,... lol
