Posted by Kaotik_Kat on 7/18/2001 at 1:45 PMI am fully sighted and was recently hired to train blind/low vision adults computer skills with adaptive software to enter them into the work force. My background is computers and software particularly Windows and Office, but I feel as a "Technology Specialist" that training these adults reaches far beyond just the computer. It should include notetakers, scanners, embossers, etc. However, I am finding it VERY difficult to obtain training for myself (as a trainer) on these types of products besides simply reading a manual. I want this program to be as successful as possible by providing "full service technology." Do you have any suggestions??

Posted by Drawfaith on 8/17/2004 at 4:54 AMHi,
(A little background for people reading this)
hello I have a very nice friend who is about 60 years old. In the last year he has lost almost all his sight. He is a Mexican man. My nephew gave me this information. His name is John Vickers. He is blind since he was 5, he is 12 now. He bought a program here in Mexico but doesnt like it. He wants to purchase another one. In Spanish. Thanks Mike
KK WHERE ARE YOU? This goes for all of you needing help: say where you are at once. Help often comes fromlocal resources.
Im with you in not understanding JAWS. The box says that the Daisy instructions provided are for a sighted instructor but Freedom Scientific says I should be able to figure it out on my own. I guess I need JAWS for Dummies cause Ive given up trying to figure it out.
This will sound odd, me being only 17 years old, but I know Jaws like the back of my hand, and my goals for when I get out of college are to teach middle/highschoolers technology. I've worked with adults before, ones who could see. Soon I may be working with an adult who is blind. Tell me the issue with Jaws and I may be able to help.
I need some help. My father is blind and we tried to install the type'n'speak on a 1992 Packard Bell running WIN3.1. It doesn't want to recognize the type'n'speak. What else can we do? Installed the pcmaster and pcdisk to the directory but can't seem to do anything. Help!
<>Re: Help with PCMaster and Type n Speak problem

Type n Speak is a notetaker with a QWERTY keyboard and speech output.
PCMaster is a DOS program for transferring files from a computer to a Type n Speak and back again.
The likeliest problem is that you need to send a mode command to the port before you run PCMaster.
Check the communications settings on the Type n Speak, then send the mode command that corresponds.
Check which communications port your Type n Speak is plugged into. Let's suppose it's com1, which is likely.
Go to the DOS prompt.
Type the following:
mode com1:96,n,8,1,p
but make substitutions for the settings of your actual equipment.
Good luck

It would be nice if somenoe created an interactive JAWS tutoria that was geared to the average persons understanding.
