This board has no count of how many people read each message, so we have no clue to your interests. It would help to know why you came, what you seek, how well you read, what assistive technology you use, and anything else you think we ought to know. Please tell us in a reply to this message. Could you check the clenapage software form readonweb? Is it useful for low vision people?

Acuity the first step below 20/20, but contrast sensitivity poor. I can read the hadlines and a paragraph with a glass magnifier, Very well printed business letters, yes; small, pale typed letters,no. My Acrobat lets me read magazines, and my special close focusing glasses ($400) let me raad a well printed book, but if the print is pale, no. I get my news on the computer, using the built-in oosts of WinP.
What bugs me? Low contrast printing and low contrast on the screen, especially pale blue used for links.

for reading: the mobipocket reader http://download.cnet.com/Mobipocket-Reader/3000-20... is the _only_ reader that lets me adjust font size font color, background color and that's trying google books, kindle, adobe pdf and epub

so a size 48 font white text on a black background I can actually SIT in my chair without leaning forward, click a button and the text scrolls automatically, only drawback is that mobi only has 120,000 books as of now...

for internet use firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html it is more secure than IE

without adding any add-ons you can get a much better contrast/font size than the windows accessibility options gives you

from the firefox tool bar->

Tools -> Options -> Content

Fonts: choose from large drop down list

font size: choose from size 9 to 72

you can go to an Advanced option to select the minimum font size used

click Colors tab to set colors from a color picker for:

font

background

visited links

unvisited links

you can have links underlined or not

to use your own choices (they stay saved) simply UNcheck two boxes:

Use system colors

Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my choices above

in 7 clicks (after choosing) I can go from default settings to having my pages with a minimum font size of 18, white text on a black background, with gold unvisited links, and teal visited links

which is very soothing to my eyes

Hi, Returning after a couple years away, as I am interested in participating with on line chat, and in particular using the In Speak Communicator with JAWS, currently have JAWS 6 on home PC. Are there articles in Access World or somewhere else that can give a blind person tips and tricks to assure success with this? Please reply here at earliest convenience.

GM you seem to have "taken over" this forum...

which is not a bad thing, but as you pointed out the structure here does not permit anyone to see if any of the posts are being read yet

these countless posts of yours are making the page get longer and looonger and loooooooonger

it takes more and more time to get to the bottom of the list to start a new thread

so maybe you could just start a thread called something like GM's finds

and just add to that post..

and in the first post list all your newsletter, feed sources then stop posting those too as if anyone wanted them, they would have them direct as you do

Hi again. I am still ISO tips and trics to use In Speak Communicator with Jaws for Windows, have #6 on my home PC. I found some past articles in Access World that are on the edge of the topic but nothing takes me further thus far. I am considering PalTalk but want to make In Speak work first if probable. Thanks in advance.

Hi again, By my calendar it is April 29 and still have not heard from anyone regarding using Jaws with
In Speak Communicator. This is an important matter as it involves my paraprofessional life.
Reluctant to provide email address as this is a somewhat public board. Please Help ASAP.

i use jaws as well, in speak looks like trouble folks have issues with lock ups. i like messanger, it has every thing in speak does and it works just fine with any version of jaws. good luck, earl

Hello hardeslll You ndon't have to scroll down searching to see if a thread exists. Befofe I start a thread I use the search function up top. It searches the message board and AccessWold and, if there is a thread, takes me there.

Message: Wow I had FUHS Corneal dystrophy and had cataracts off both eyes with ocular lens replaced and corneal transplants as well as tear duct blocked to try to get more moisture all dsn't work.I have some kind of optic nerve disease that caused the surgery to fail.Now my right eye looks like someone took an eraser and erased bites of every letter. I see double and triple with ghosting. I have a Fuh's group on face book if your looking for info. It is an inherited condition never skips a generation and passes to half of the kids you have.I need magnifers very close to page to read then focus is very hard.Barb

I registered on here in hopes of finding answers to at least some of my computer questions, and that is exactly what I've gotten so thank you. As for what assistive technology I use and things of that nature, I have a desktop PC here in my apartment which is running Windows Vista. I have System Access on there, and IE9. I got a Dell laptop last Christmas, and I installed NVDA on it. I can also log into SA on here, and I use IE9 on here too. I've used Firefox before, but for some reason it didn't work that well for me. I hear the latest version works great with NVDA though, so I might give it another shot at some point. I was a JAWS user for several years and loved it, but it's just too expensive and I can't afford it. I've used demo copies of Window-Eyes too and like it, and I also successfully used Vocal-Eyes several years ago at a local Jesuit college.
