Disposing of computers - advice needed

What do you guys do with your old outdated unfunctional computers? I have a Dell Enspiron laptop and a desktop tower wit a broken monitor. I've contacted an recycler using the Environmental Protection Agency epa.gov under local resources. I just know if I trust this company or not. I've been to gazel.com and erasemylaptop.com or something like it. However, I just want a third opinion on what to do about this stuff. None of the computers work and would cost more money fixing them than they are worth but I'm an enviromentalist wanting to stop the unecessary pollution of our landfills with more electronic junk. By the way, I've posted about my working M-Power and also my computers have potentially personal data so that is why I'm hesitant to do anything cause of the hardrives.
