"Good functional vision."

Re: 18 year old girl looking for friends and a guy with good functional vision

What is ur vision like?

Re: 18 year old girl looking for friends and a guy with good functional vision

Nowhere near functional. I've got a little light perception and color but that's it. I do all of my activities as though I were total.

Re: 18 year old girl looking for friends and a guy with good functional vision

Were u born with ur vision loss or was it a gradual thing?

Re: 18 year old girl looking for friends and a guy with good functional vision

I was born with it, it's genetic. It's been getting worse over time though. I used to be able to use a CCTV, but no longer I am afraid.

Re: 18 year old girl looking for friends and a guy with good functional vision

Hello. I would be happy to be your friend if you'd like. I am 26 years old and female. I am married and have a son who is 4, use a seeing eye dog, and have a wide network of friends. I have friends from my first college who are around my age, friends from my current college who are 18 to around 20 and we have married couple friends who range from their mid twenties to their fifties. I've dealt with the craptastic dating scene as a blind woman, am active in all sorts of service dog handler rights and disability rights arinas, including but not limited to blindness. I am honest, realistic, totally candid but humerous and am happy to give advice or just listen, and I'll try to fill whatever female friend shoes you're looking to have filled, mentor, gal pal, big sister sort of thing, or just a soundingboard for your ideas. I was a high partial as a young child, a low partial in my teens and am now pretty much a total. I am a social work student looking into becoming a couples or family counsilor. Here is a basic list of some areas I am active in, advocate for, have studied or like to mentor in or share with others: disability rights, women's rights, minority rights, GLBT rights, psychology, sociology, human sexuality, anthropology, world culture, travel, attachment parenting, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, sustainable practices, green living, local organic food, pregnancy and birth, natural child birth, freedom of sexual information, sexual liberation, women's reproductive health issues, relationship improvement/counsiling, writing, including fanfiction, poetry, national novel writing month, blogging, journaling and erotica, dog training, dog breeding/showing, white water rafting, hiking, camping, perfume oils and scented products, home improvement/decoration (I, not my sighted husband, have taken over the decorating of our home and I painted our living room with a little help from our handy-man) volinteering with the homeless, teen mothers and with children of all ages, and the list goes on. Oh, I've read Twilight. I know there's a huge debate ranging from "They're complete crap" to "They're the best thing ever." I think they are quite good for young adult fantasy fiction. Not the best thing I've ever read in my entire life, but not bad, enjoyable to read. I also enjoy all sorts of books from high brow accademic phylosophy books to self help/self improvement books to fantasy, to the classics, to horror to plane old formulaic smutt like Nora Roberts to poetry to shakesperian plays, so we could probably find some books in common and introduce one another to some interesting new books. Nice to meet you, and if you're interested in chatting, just reply here and I'll send you my email address. Oh, one last thing. I would highly highly urge you to change your wording/expectations from wanting a "man with functional vision" to a compitant functional man regardless of his vision. I know some high partial men, some sighted men who are total mamas boys, who can't think for themselves, let alone cook, clean or do for themselves, and I know totally blind men who hold down 9 to 5 jobs, are wonderful husbands and fathers and do all of the major manly tasks around the house, are socially compitant, caring people and wonderful in bed. So, whatever reason it is that you are limiting your self to men with "functional" vision, you might do better to make compitance and independence your criteria, which opens you up to sighted men and totally blind men. Because how they live and what they can do for themselves and for you and your potential future family and household together is the important thing. Take care.

Re: 18 year old girl looking for friends and a guy with good functional vision

Hey Alison!
I might be a little too old for you, but I've been checking in and out of this site for a few years hoping to find a girl by the name of Nancy I saw on television asking me by my name that she would marry me. You see, I have a loving blind aunt who still lives and for that reason I would marry someone like her with the same disability. Other than that I might be growing a little too old and might have to just marry a normal person. Everything seems to be falling in place for me though, in education and work... I just don't understand why I just can't seem to find this girl who I believe is from Canada. I've dreamed a lot of her and even my mother is aware of the situation, and as long as she's a good girl she finds it okay to marry her. It might sound far-fetched but with God anything, even miracles are possible. Not to sound harsh, but I've had a lot of luck with girls since I was a baby boy... so I hope she understands if I find someone else because I don't want to die alone since I deserve to be happy and it is not my mistake to follow my teacher's orders and open my heart to a disabled person (its only a positive trait). I'm still a very, very innocent person BTW :D What would I say to her if she was reading this? Please don't forget who you are, who you were, who you still continue to be, and that I am a normal person with the highest of self-esteem who believes is doing the right thing and following what God wants us to do. As I attend church, I only think of you in the highest place of that cross as I pray and only wish good for either of us, both of us. Amado te ama con mucho amor y amando a Dios siempre hara:D
